The Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia’s Forensic Practice Group (FPG) strives prepare the defense community to understand, utilize, and challenge forensic science in court. FPG puts on an annual conference to educate on relevant forensic science topics.

This year’s conference is focused on the admissibility of scientific evidence under FRE 702. After almost a century of applying Frye’s “general acceptance” standard to forensic evidence, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals recently adopted the FRE 702 reliability test for the admissibility of expert testimony in the landmark case Motorola Inc. v Murray. With more forensic evidence in our cases than ever before, understanding this new standard is crucial. Join us on July 28th at Arnold & Porter, LLP to learn more! Check in will begin at 9 a.m. with a light breakfast. Six-and-a-half hours of D.C. CJA CLE credit will be offered. Must be registered to attend.

If you have any questions regarding the conference or require special accommodations, please contact Maneka Sinha.

Target Audience:  D.C. defense and CJA bar.
